Integrated 3- and 4-year-old Kindergarten

Integrated, Funded Kinder Programs Overview

Our kindergarten educators are the best in the business and are qualified, registered Early Childhood Teachers (ECT) who are committed to ensuring your child has the best education and experience there is to offer. With versatile techniques and a diverse pedagogical toolbox, they will work with your child on a daily basis to prepare them for school.

Our funded, integrated 3- and 4-year-old kindergarten programs provide you the flexibility to choose drop-off and pick-up times. Attending an integrated kindergarten program prepares your child for longer days when they start school. Our pre-kinder and Kindergarten programs are stimulating and engaging and a perfect way to support and empower your child to take the next step of their educational journey.

Our Early Childhood Teachers specialise in developing evidence based educational programs that align with both the national and the state framework documents. Our ECTs have a sound pedagogical knowledge of planning, assessing and documenting children’s learning and understand the importance of parental partnership.

The Victorian Government provides funding to support children to access a high-quality kindergarten program in the two years before they start school. The funding is a contribution towards meeting the cost of the kindergarten program. Your child can only be funded for a kindergarten place at one service at any one time and only for one year in a 3-Year-Old Kindergarten program and one year in a 4-Year-Old Kindergarten program.

3-year-old Pre-Kinder Program (Learning Groups 6 & 7)

Our pre-kindergarten program is delivered in Learning Groups 6 and 7 by Victorian Institute of Teaching registered kindergarten teachers and a co-educator with an Early Childhood Education qualification. There is a maximum of 15 children in each group. We run a government funded 3-year-old program integrated in a Long Day Care setting. Children are provided with a learning program that empowers them to have increasingly developed emotional and social positive outcomes. This key development can be life changing for the children in all their future learning. The educational environment and programs are designed to support children’s language development, pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills, independence and social skills. The evidence-based provocations set up in the learning spaces encourage constructive learning, imaginative play and creativity, and development to embolden social skills and an ‘I can’ attitude.

4-year-old Kinder Program (Learning Groups 8 & 9)

At MCFC we have two government funded 4-year-old kindergarten groups with a maximum of 15 children in each group, integrated in a Long Day Care setting. The program is delivered by Victorian Institute of Teaching registered kindergarten teachers and qualified Early Childhood Teachers (ECT), developing evidence based educational programs that align with both the national and the state frameworks.

The program is representational of the families, educators and the community enabling children to reach their full potential before starting school. After consultation with families, the elements of educational aspects that were most important for them were health and well-being, social competence, knowledge acquisition, language development and emotional resilience. By providing high quality educational program and encouraging shared and responsive decision making, the kindergarten teachers inspire an inclusive and innovative learning environment. A space is created where your child’s interest is followed, and their voice is heard. These interests form a base of all the intentional and spontaneous teaching aspects of the learning program.

The educational program is underpinned by a strong connection to theoretical perspectives that explain how children learn and respond to the educational environment around them. Our ECTs provide children the opportunity for active learning in order to engage fully in the content. By engaging in active learning children learn to shift their thinking between concrete and abstract, thereby translating their understanding back to the educators. Our ECTs provoke, engage and scaffold your child’s understanding to create meaningful learning and cognitive development. The learning program is sequential and builds on previous knowledge. Sufficient time is allowed for children to engage deeply with concepts to build on their experience so that they can confidently translate the ideas and information processed and use it in new and different ways.
