Learning Groups 1, 2 & 3

A welcome to our youngest community members

Caring for our youngest community members, MCFC takes in babies from 3 months of age. We know that leaving your child in the care of others is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make. That’s why only the best early childhood educators will be with your child, engaging in meaningful play and providing safety and security from day one. There are orientation sessions available to help ease little ones into the room, so parents/carers, children, and educators can get to know one another.

Our Learning Groups 1, 2 and 3 include children under 2 years of age. There is a maximum of 8 children in each group with two primary educators per group. The small group size and above-ratio staffing arrangement provides an opportunity for educators to work closely with children and families.

We prioritise seamless transitions for the babies and endeavour to provide consistent routines for your child. It is for this reason that we work closely with you, gathering information and preparing ourselves to meet your child’s requirements and comfort. The above-ratio staffing guarantees that your child’s needs are met and their individual routines are maintained. This consistency in routines cushions your child from other unexpected changes and soothes them amidst big changes.

When community health and safety allows, we encourage you to spend time with your child in the room and get to know us so that any feeling of uncertainty is alleviated. We also welcome calls from you to check on your little ones and we call you to give updates, especially during the initial settling period so that you both feel relaxed and comfortable.

The learning environment in Groups 1-3 is educational, adventurous, nurturing and caring with age-appropriate spaces created so that the children are comfortable yet appropriately challenged. For young children the world is an ongoing series of new experiences where they learn to self-regulate and develop so they can flourish. The educators endeavour to nurture these feelings and provide safe, supportive and responsive environment to your child so that they get the opportunity to explore and make sense of the world around them.

Your child’s learning and development is regularly documented and shared with you and provides you with information about how your child advances from being a highly dependent infant to a progressively independent toddler.
