Fundraising and Social Events
MCFCO is a not-for-profit organisation and the Committee of Management is organising various fundraising events to raise money for educational and social activities, learning environment enhancements and staff awards.
Monash University has provided us with significant funds for setting up the furniture and toys in playrooms and the outdoor area when we moved to the new building in March 2010, for which we are very grateful. However, as a co-operative, we still continue to function in the same manner as before, relaying on the parents to contribute their time and other resources to meet the needs of our children.
As before, we will offer catalogues for purchasing various educational products, like books, which will benefit to both parents and the Centre. We will extend this to offer items like healthy snacks, teas and coffee, fresh pasta, spring garden seeds, trees etc, which we hope parents will find very useful. We know that our parents can be very busy, and having a large meeting space and modern seminar facilities in our Centre provides us with opportunities to organise interesting seminars that can be useful for our parents, regarding the nutrition, children development, first aid etc. These events are also organised to boost our social activities, because children benefit from interacting with their friend's families.
Cakes for birthdays and other celebration events
From January 2011 the Committee adopted "no outside food" policy for birthdays and other celebratory events because the number of children with serious allergies has increased, and parents have been struggling to find egg-free dairy-free cakes to bring for birthdays and other celebratory events. The parents can now purchase a cake from the Centre, and the money will go towards our fundraising efforts. Parents need to make arrangement with our cook, in person or via email (cook@mcfco.org.au) a week before the event about which cake they would like to purchase. The order form can be downloaded from our "Forms" section.
We like to support various social activities, but it is mostly up to the parents and Committee members to suggest and initiate these activities. Please talk to our Co-ordinator Helen if you would like to suggest or organise an activity or send an email to the Committee of Management at committee@mcfco.org.au
